Occupational Therapist

Responsibilities

• Conduct and administer evaluations using the DAYC-2 to determine First Steps eligibility.
• Perform developmental assessments for children, using standardized tools to evaluate sensory motor development, coordination, self-care, and more.
• Provide input using occupational therapy knowledge when developing outcomes for a child.
• Coordinate and execute individual and joint treatment sessions, collaborating with the Early Intervention Team.
• Participate in IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) and Early Intervention meetings.
• Design and construct adaptive equipment/devices, providing necessary instructions for use.
• Develop and oversee home programs to support therapeutic strategies in natural environments.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including daily progress notes and monthly summaries.
• Ensure the safety and cleanliness of therapeutic toys and equipment.
• Manage therapy schedules and timely documentation.

Essential Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency in occupational therapy principles and materials.
• Understanding of developmental delays, atypical patterns, and related physical conditions.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating therapeutic needs across all five developmental domains (cognition, communication, social-emotional, physical, and adaptive)
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with families, staff, and community partners.
• Competence in various therapy activities, including sensory integration and muscle reeducation.
• Physical capability to support and lift individuals weighing 45+ pounds and to perform physical movements required for therapy.
• Emotional stability and adherence to DCO policies and safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Missouri.
• Completion of First Steps modules, reliable transportation, and a valid driver’s license.
• CPR certification (required).
• Preferred: Experience working in pediatrics.

Salary Range

Salary: $54,000- $58,000
