Teacher
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct developmental assessments and use results to guide individualized classroom plans.
- Create and implement daily lesson plans tailored to developmental stages and classroom needs.
- Engage children in age-appropriate educational activities supporting motor, language, adaptive, and social skills.
- Maintain active supervision and appropriate child-to-adult ratios at all times, including during field trips and outdoor play.
- Provide one-on-one support for children requiring individual interventions.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, developmental data, and monthly reports.
- Collaborate with families, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to support child development.
- Model positive behavior management techniques and provide support to assistant teachers in the classroom.
Essential Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of child development and instructional strategies for children with developmental disabilities.
- Positive, enthusiastic approach to working with children and their families.
- Ability to lift or assist in lifting children up to 75 lbs and perform physical activities involved in childcare.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation practices, including universal precautions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and supervise assistant teaching staff.
- Commitment to a smoke-free, respectful, and nurturing environment at all times.
- Additional Requirements:
Strict adherence to DCO policies, procedures, and licensing regulations. - No use of physical discipline, yelling, or verbal abuse.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training.

Requirements
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS: (The following statement represents the minimum experience and training standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for consideration.)
Possession of at least a high school diploma or its equivalent and direct experience with children is required. Possession of or expected completion of a CDA credential with two years experience with young children is acceptable for this position. A 2-year or 4-year Degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Child Development or related field and experience working with young children is preferred. Extensive experience with young children may be substituted for college credit. Non smoking, drug free environment.
Salary Range
Salary: $16.00-$18.00/per hour based on education and experience.
