Director of Finance

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise staff responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, personnel administration, and related business support functions
  • Lead the preparation, interpretation, and analysis of monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate and prepare the annual organizational budget in collaboration with program leadership
  • Present financial statements to the Board of Directors and assist in presenting the annual budget
  • Review and analyze purchases, contracts, and operating requirements to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and contract terms
  • Provide financial guidance to the Executive Director and management team, including long‑range planning and administrative strategy
  • Maintain accurate financial and statistical records; audit contracts and grants for compliance
  • Perform additional administrative and fiscal duties as assigned

Essential Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, business practices, and fiscal management
  • Understanding of business and public administration as they relate to nonprofit or healthcare financial operations
  • Ability to supervise and support staff across multiple administrative functions
  • Skill in interpreting policies, delegating responsibilities, and evaluating performance
  • Ability to make informed administrative decisions across financial and operational areas
  • Proficiency in developing, analyzing, and presenting financial reports
  • Ability to audit contracts and grants for budget and compliance requirements
  • Strong judgment, initiative, and organizational skills

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional accounting or financial management experience
  • Experience in nonprofit or healthcare settings preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
