- Assist individuals with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, grooming, mobility, and eating
- Support classroom learning by helping individuals engage in lessons, group activities, and skill‑building tasks
- Provide one‑on‑one support for individuals who need focused assistance or a break from overstimulating situations
- Prepare and organize teaching materials, classroom supplies, and learning labs
- Substitute for an Instructor (after training/experience) to carry out lessons for individuals or small groups
- Assist with community integration activities and educational outings
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized classroom areas; sanitize equipment and materials daily
- Complete required documentation, including daily notes, attendance, progress data, incident reports, and monthly summaries
- Assist with meal setup, eating support, and breakfast/lunch routines
- Support lifting and transfers using manual or mechanical equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned to support classroom operations
Essential Skills & Abilities
- Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with adults with developmental disabilities
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to learn tasks quickly and follow established routines
- Understanding of positive behavior support and ability to follow Behavior Support Plans
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) adult education techniques, diagnoses, and behavior strategies
- Physical ability to lift or assist in lifting adults and perform tasks involving bending, squatting, kneeling, and floor‑level work
- Knowledge of universal precautions and safe hygiene practices
- Ability to maintain a non‑smoking, odor‑free presence due to program sensitivities
- Commitment to following all DCO policies, procedures, and licensing regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- CPR & First Aid certification (within 60 days of hire)
- MANDT certification (within 60 days of hire)
- Class E driver’s license (within 30 days of hire)
- Must maintain a non‑smoking, drug‑free environment

Salary: $17.00-$19.00/hourly
