Since 1954, we’ve supported infants, children, and adults through therapies, education, and habilitative programs that promote personal growth and meaningful participation in the community.

  • Support individuals in adjusting to program activities, social interactions, and community‑based experiences
  • Develop weekly schedules of integration and inclusive activities based on individual preferences and needs
  • Implement teaching and training programs to build skills in independence, hygiene, domestic tasks, recreation, shopping, travel, functional academics, and accessing community resources
  • Complete Life Course Assessments and assist in developing outcomes and support statements
  • Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team during Individual Plan meetings
  • Complete data collection, progress notes, reports, and documentation as required
  • Follow Behavior Support Plans and collect related data
  • Provide personal care support, including toileting and eating, as needed
  • Assist with lifting and transfers; work in a variety of environments and climates
  • Support Classroom Assistants and other instructors as needed
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

Essential Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of techniques for supervising and interacting with adults with developmental disabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement weekly community inclusion activities
  • Ability to learn tasks quickly and apply them with creativity and accuracy
  • Ability to interact respectfully with individuals, families, coworkers, and community partners
  • Ability to use a variety of learning materials, equipment, computers, and community resources
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to situations requiring CPR, First Aid, or Mandt intervention
  • Physical ability to lift or assist with lifting, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, and work at floor level
  • Understanding of universal precautions, safety, and sanitation practices
  • Ability to implement positive behavior support strategies
  • Ability to maintain a non‑smoking, odor‑free presence
  • Adherence to all DCO policies, procedures, and licensing regulations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Direct experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • College credit or specialized training in areas such as gardening, food service, or self‑help skills preferred
  • Certification (or ability to obtain/maintain):
    • CPR
    • First Aid
    • Mandt
    • Medication Administration (if required)
  • Training for Technology Lab specialty areas provided after hire

Salary Range

Start Date: April 1, 2026
